Natural Stone Finishes & Fabrication

The finish changes color, reflectivity, grip, cleaning behavior and how a stone ages. Specify the finish together with application, sample and test requirements.

Craftsperson finishing a natural stone surface

Polished

High reflectivity; emphasizes color and veining. Common on many interior marbles, granites and onyxes.

Honed

Low-sheen surface with a calmer appearance; widely used for interiors and some low-slip-risk areas.

Brushed

Textured feel that can soften the visual character of travertine, limestone and hard stones.

Tumbled

Rounded, aged character commonly associated with travertine tiles and pavers.

Sandblasted

Textured matte surface used for exterior stone, façades and anti-slip design strategies.

Bush-hammered

Pronounced mechanical texture useful for hard stone and selected marble/limestone exteriors.

Flamed

Thermal texture used mainly on compatible granite/basalt-type stones for exterior grip.

Filled / Unfilled

Travertine pores may be filled for smoother surfaces or intentionally left open for a more natural texture.

Leathered

Textured low-sheen finish available on some materials; factory capability and stone response should be confirmed.

Natural split / sawn

Common for landscape, walling and volcanic stones where a less processed texture is desired.

Frequently asked

Questions buyers often ask

What information should I include in a finishes and fabrication inquiry?

Send the stone name or preferred color, required format and thickness, approximate quantity, finish, destination and timing. Drawings, schedules and reference samples are especially useful for cut-to-size projects.

Does Atlas own a quarry?

Atlas Global Trading Inc. operates as an independent sourcing and trading company. We coordinate supply with established quarry owners and processing factories in Turkey rather than limiting projects to a single quarry.

Can Atlas combine multiple Turkish stones in one project?

Yes. Multi-material schedules can be coordinated across compatible partner factories, with attention to samples, production timing, packing and shipment planning.

Can buyers request current slab or block photos?

Yes, subject to supplier availability. For natural stone, current-lot photos and representative samples are an important part of confirming color, vein movement and acceptable range before production.
